sir,
I have the honour to request Your Txcellency's
assistance in a satter concerning the transfer of land
to the ar Department which originated during your
#dainistration of this Colony.
2. You will probably recollect that in agust,
1936, the Military authorities intimated that owing to
the prospective incresse in the Oarrison it would be
necessary to build a military hospital on the winland,
and there followed some correspondence and informs 1
discussion regarding the selection of a site for this
purpose. In April of this year a site was agreed upon,
as is shown in a letter from you dated 13th April, 1937,
and the General Officer Commanding the British Troops
in China's reply of 28th April, 1937, (which was
received after your departure from the Colony), copies
of which are emlosed. Subsequently the General
Officer Commanding was notified by letter that the site
had been reserved pending the decision of the War Office,
and the correspondence on this subject rests with his
acknowledgement of that letter.

In the course of this correspondence there is
no mention of the teras on which the selected site would
be transferred, nor is there any such mention in
departmental records. Ordinarily, therefore, I should
